The Federal Signal Model 2

The Federal Signal Model 2 is an omnidirectional 2-horsepower siren made by the company Federal Signal. The Model 2 has several variations however it has mostly stayed consistent throughout its production life. The easy identifiable factor of the Model 2 is its three shrouds. The middle shroud may be closer to the top or the bottom depending on when it was produced.

The Federal Signal STH-10

The Federal Signal STH-10 is second most common siren in New Jersey. It is a 10 horsepower single tone siren. It is easily identifiable because of its classic horns that span around the siren and the motor being on the upper side of the siren. The difference between the STH-10 and the STL-10 is the horns and the port ratio. To easily differentiate the two just look at the horns the STL-10 is more separated.

This siren is easily identifiable because it has two shrouds, a cone shape and is much bigger than the Model 2. The Model 5 comes in many versions including a dual tone version. It is typically easy to see the stator so it can the ports can be counted.
